Rebecca Ferguson is set to star in the Skydance sci-fi pic “Life”.

Daniel Espinosa is directing the film with David Ellison and Dana Goldberg producing along with Bonnie Curtis and Julie Lynn. The project, an original idea, has a script written by “Deadpool” duo Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese.

Story follows the crew of the International Space Station, who, after retrieving a sample from Mars, discover that it displays signs of life, and proves to be more intelligent than expected.

Ferguson has become an in-demand actress in Hollywood following her break-out in Skydance’s “Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation” where she beat out a slew of actresses for the role of Isla Faust. Following the film’s huge box office success with $682 million worldwide, she began to land offers for some of the biggest roles in town including the female lead opposite Michael Fassbender in “The Snowman” and one of the leads in DreamWorks’ “The Girl on the Train” opposite Emily Blunt.

She is also expected to reprise her role in the next “Mission: Impossible,” which shoots next August. She is repped by ICM Partners, Actors in Scandinavia and Tavistock Wood.
